a doll for riley

i just wanted to share this doll that i made for a cute girl named, riley.  this doll is really late getting to her (when i mean late, i mean really late).  on the upside, it finally got to her just in time for her birthday!

here's the doll i made using the black apple doll tutorial with some customized details.

according to riley's mom, she calls it her "special" doll - and that makes me especially happy!

have a great day!

sisters

growing up an only girl, i've always been fascinated with the relationships of sisters.  i'm so lucky to witness snipets of this relationship through one of my best friend's girls.   i love these girls as if they were my own...   so, i wanted to make them something special.  using the black apple doll tutorial and some acrylic paints, i made them their very own sister dolls!  meet samaria and asia...

painted faces
embroidered monograms
dom wanted to give them some love before we wrapped them up...

have a great weekend!

she belongs to a "madeline" too...

i say this, because i previously made one for a girl named, madeline.  this doll is for my neighbor's daughter.  she is a very sweet girl with blond hair and blue eyes.

here's the doll i made her, using the black apple tutorial for the basic pattern, and customizing the other details to make it unique.  i added a scarf and sleeves to this doll - it is winter, afterall.

a detailed shot of her eye (i modified it to add an iris and highlights)

a detailed shot of her flower hair clip (inspired by a friend of mine)

a detailed shot of the embroidered monogram

i hope you liked it.  now, i'm off to make one for another girl whose favorite pastel colors are:  blue, pink, and purple...

she belongs to beautiful madeline...

here's another one of the dolls i made, using the black apple, and chez beeper bebe tutorials.  here's the original inspiration for this doll, i found it while searching for black apple doll images on google.

(source)

i was able to find the blue retro space fabric by michael miller (in etsy), and i got the striped fabric from a local fabric store.

i made this for madeline, who lives all the way in detroit.

though i haven't met madeline (i've only seen her in photos), i'm already deeply in love with this little girl.  she is the daughter of one of my best friends!  i can't wait to see them soon.

have great week everyone!

pirate boy

i am so lucky to be surrounded by very talented friends, and i am very proud of every single one of them.   one of these friends, is rice babies!

i first fell in love with this pirate girl she had at her etsy shop.  isn't she a cutie?

after she sold the pirate girl, i was sooo sad i didn't snatch it up in the first place...

i also discovered how much care and detail is involved in making them.   i certainly have a new-found appreciation for this art form.

i really wanted one of rice babies' dolls in my collection.  so, she created this wonderful "boy" doll just for my lil' guy, dominic.  secretly, of course, it is really for me - i guess the secret's out!

i love this embroidery...

rice babies also makes the cutest felt crowns:

don't forget to stop by rice babies etsy shop, because you don't want to miss out on all of her wonderful creations!

bunny found a new friend!
